Reflections on the 30th BEST Conference – Kaohsiung, Taiwan (June 26–28, 2025) and Exchange research activity in Yuntech

I had the privilege of attending the 30th Taiwan International Symposium on Biotechnology and Bioengineering (BEST-2025), held from June 26–28, 2025, at the National Kaohsiung University of Science and Technology, Kaohsiung, Taiwan. The central theme of this year’s conference was “A Sustainable Future in Biotechnology and Bioengineering through Artificial Intelligence, Precision Medicine, and Zero-Carbon Innovations.”

The event brought together a vibrant scientific community with invited speakers from leading institutions across Taiwan, Malaysia, Thailand, Korea, and Japan. The sessions were intellectually stimulating and covered a wide array of cutting-edge research. There were invited talks covering a range of innovative topics, including novel strategies for studying uncultivable microorganisms, the synthesis of bioadhesives for medical applications, nucleic acid-based biosensors, and the upcycling of agricultural biomass into value-added products for the cosmetics industry, among others. In addition to the invited talks, the conference featured poster and oral presentations by students and researchers from various universities, covering diverse themes from biotechnology and biochemical engineering fields.

The conference offered an excellent platform to exchange ideas, learn about innovative research, and connect with esteemed professors and researchers. One of the most memorable moments was the banquet dinner, where I had the opportunity to engage in insightful conversations with leading scientists, including Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chuenchit Boonchird and Prof. Dr. Prakit Sukiyai, President and Vice President of the Thai Society of Biotechnology, respectively.

I extend my heartfelt thanks to Prof. Dr. Yu-Shen Cheng for the opportunity to participate in this enriching event, and to Prof. Dr. Malinee Sriariyanun for facilitating my visit to Taiwan. It was truly a remarkable experience that broadened my academic perspective and professional network.
