A special lecture in Biorefinery class by Diana Jose
A special lecture class on the topic ‘Biomass and Biorefinery processes’ by Diana Jose, PhD student in CPE program for master's students was given during semester 1/2025. It provided an opportunity to delve deeply into the concepts of biomass utilization, biorefinery pathways, and their significance in sustainable development. The engagement and curiosity of the students were inspiring, as they actively participated in discussions and asked thought-provoking questions. It was rewarding to witness their enthusiasm for understanding the practical and theoretical aspects of biorefinery processes, which reinforced the importance of these topics in modern research and industry.

Special lecture in Biorefinery class by Elizabeth Jayex Panakkal
Delivering a lecture to Master students on the topic of “Bioproducts and Biochemicals from Sugarcane and Coffee Biorefinery” by Dr. Elizabeth Jayex Panakkal, Postdoctorate researcher in CPE, was an enriching and intellectually stimulating experience. The 3-hour session was carefully structured to delve into the intricate processes of sugarcane and coffee biorefineries and their pivotal role in advancing sustainable development. Beginning with foundational concepts, the lecture explored the production of value-added products and biochemicals derived from agricultural residues such as sugarcane bagasse, molasses, coffee shells, silverskins and spend coffee ground. Emphasis was placed on the concept of zero waste generation to underline the importance of sustainability and circular economy principles in modern biorefineries. The interactive discussions and the students' enthusiasm made the experience truly rewarding, reaffirming the joy of sharing knowledge in this evolving field.
