Welcome to CEM Program!

Vision & PLOs

Vision

To be an advanced education program that enhances understanding and competence in Chemical Engineering.

Mission

To create Master’s and Doctoral-level engineers not only with abilities in knowledge application but also skills in research and development.

CEM’s Master Program PLOs

Program Learning Outcome of CEM’s Master Program

PLO 1 Comprehensive Knowledge

The graduates are expected to be able to explain phenomena in chemical processes by referring to related chemical engineering theories. They would be able to select and apply appropriate chemical engineering and management knowledge, tools, and software to solve complex problems and understand the economic, environmental, and social impact of selected engineering solutions. They understand the nature of industrial research, can design and conduct research at basic to intermediate levels, and can analyze and interpret the data obtained.

The graduates possess some degree of curiosity about their work and can seek answers and obtain necessary knowledge from various sources to expand their existing knowledge. They can enhance self-learning skills.

The graduates understand professionalism, ethics, morality, and responsibility in accordance with professional standards.

The graduates can assess the situation, contextualize data, recognize relevant criteria, and identify critical issues that must be addressed. They can evaluate and propose a practical solution to improve chemical process efficiency and product quality. They should have basic skills in using some essential chemical engineering tools such as Aspen Plus process simulation software and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) programs such as ANSYS Fluent or COMSOL. Also, they should be familiar with programming languages such as Excel VBA or Visual Fortran and numerical evaluation software such as Mathcad, Mathematica, or MATLAB.

The graduates can utilize techniques, skills, and tools to solve engineering and management problems. They can plan activities, prioritize, and manage assigned tasks or projects well. They can work as a team, think systematically, and be able to adjust work plan when problems arise. They are proficient in listening, reporting, communicating, and collaborating effectively with relevant colleagues.

The graduates can evaluate new technology, including processes, products, and methods for industrial application.

The graduates have a business mindset. They consider not only the technical aspects of the designs and solutions devised but also their consequences on the economy, environment, safety, production ability, and sustainability.

The graduates can plan and carry out research projects that are consistent with the goals of related industries or organizations.

PLO 1 Profound Knowledge

The graduates have deep knowledge of the research topic that they study. They can explicitly explain the problems, theories, and phenomena related to their own research topic.

The graduates have the skills to learn on their own. They are keen to learn new things and can search, review, and understand international literature independently. They can also find answers or new ways to solve problems at work.

The graduates understand and follow professionalism, ethics, morality, and responsibility in accordance with professional standards.

The graduates can apply the knowledge, theories, and related tools to appropriately define the research topic, objectives, and scope of work.

The graduates can specify necessary resources, select an appropriate methodology, and devise a realistic work plan to accomplish the research goal. They can also conduct the research as planned and suitably solve any problems that may arise during the research.

The graduates can appropriately analyze the experimental results or research findings and professionally interpret the result in a clear and concise manner.

The graduates can communicate effectively verbally and in writing enough to publish and present their work to the public community in the field. They can also prepare a research proposal for a funding grant and are able to manage and work as a team.

The graduates can integrate and apply knowledge/methods from different disciplines to solve a complex problem that requires knowledge from many disciplines.

The graduates can design chemical processes and products within limitations. They understand and can respond to market needs within limitations of various factors such as economics, environment, social perspective, health and safety concerns, and sustainability.
